Building on experience
gained helping the U.S. Air Force devise database services
to manage and protect its bases, a Denver engineering, construction
and information technology firm has launched a security and
crisis management tool for municipalities.
GeoProtect, brought out Sept. 11
by CH2M Hill Inc., consists of software and integration services.
It links a client's existing data from geographic information
systems, global positioning systems, remote imagery, maps,
blueprints, schematics and business and operations data to
create a comprehensive information picture that can evolve
as conditions change.
"We're trying to design this so
it works with just about anything," says Bill Wallace, senior
vice president and GeoProtect program manager. "It's tough
to price, because a lot is based on what the client has to
begin with. We're focused on enhancing their data investment."
Wallace says the product is keyed
on utilities, facilities and infrastructure security and on
how geospatial information can be used to protect them and
the populations they serve. Details are available at www.ch2mhill.com.
