The U.S. Green Building Council is soliciting comments on the second draft of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System for New Construction, version 2.2. The point-based system evaluates construction impact on the environment using such factors as energy use, water consumption and site selection. To comment, go to www.usgbc.org. The public comment period closes July 30. The new version of the rating system is expected in fall 2005.
