Nasser Street links to a $950-million Jahra Road project that started last September. The two highways will relieve a congested corridor linking Kuwait City with its western suburbs and provide access to major government facilities and other centers, says an official with Louis Berger Group Inc., Morristown, N.J., which is handling design and construction supervision for the ministry with locally based Pan Arab Consulting Engineers.

Viaducts will carry through-traffic over at-grade service roads. The 5.5-year Jamal Abdul Nasser Street contract went to a consortium that is owned 48% each by Italy’s Rizzani de Eccher S.p.A., Pozzuolo del Friuli, and OHL International Construction S.A., Madrid, Spain, says an OHL spokesman.

Trevi S.p.A., Cesena, Italy, has 3% of the consortium, and locally based Boodai Trading Co. has 1%. Construction includes over 15 km of viaducts and ramps.

Egypt-based Arab Contractors, Cairo, won the five-year Jahra Road project last March. That project includes some 18 km of viaducts and ramps.
