BRIDGES
China's Sutong Bridge Moves Into the Record Books
With a 1,088-meter-long cable-stayed main span, the Sutong Bridge over the Yangtze River breaks the world record. It is supported on what builders say are the world's biggest foundations, and 300-m-tall pylons. The bridge is designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes and provides a crucial link for China's booming suburbs. Full Story.
