A Dallas-based joint-venture team of Balfour Beatty Construction and McCarthy has won a $503-million design-build contract for a replacement hospital at Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas. The contract was awarded on Sept. 10 by the Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth district. Two other teams short-listed for the project included a JV of Hensel Phelps Construction Co. with contractor Robins & Morton and a San Antonio-based team of Turner Construction and Zachry.
