commentJM Eagle, the world’s largest plastic-pipe manufacturer, on April 5 revised its product warranty from one year to 50 years. The Los Angeles firm, with $1.6 billion in annual sales, says the new warranty will cover manufacturer’s defects for all new sales of high-performance polyvinyl chloride and high-density polyethylene pipe used in water transmission and distribution lines and sewer mains. Two months ago, a federal court unsealed a whistle-blower’s defective-products lawsuit, which has been joined by 43 municipalities and four states.
