Riverbank Power of Toronto is targeting a 2015 completion for its Riverbank Wiscasset Energy Center in Wiscasset, a project estimated at $2 billion. The underground renewable power-generation facility will produce carbon-free electricity from turbines located underground near a suitable water source. The facility with have a combined installed capacity of 1,000 MW. Malcolm Pirnie/ARCADIS is the project's consulting engineer. Ajax Ventures LLC has submitted an application to the state of Massachusetts for its planned $600-million Crossroads Resort Casino project in Milford. The 300,000-sq-ft, resort-style casino would feature a 125,000-sq-ft gaming floor, 300 hotel rooms, a conference center and nightclub, as well as a 2,800-space, five-level parking garage facility, located on a 200-acre site. Harvard University is working with developer Samuels and Associates of Boston in seeking zoning approvals for its $90-million Barry's Corner residential-retail project in Allston near Smith Field. The project, currently intended to attain LEED-Gold certification, would include two buildings totaling an estimated 350,000 sq ft, with 325 apartments, 40,000 sq ft of retail and 180 garaged parking spaces.
