GEI Consultants Inc. has promoted Giovanni Bonita to senior vice president and geostructural practice leader. Based in Washington, D.C., he specializes in engineering of complex underground structures and deep foundations.

Megan Syrnick, a Hill International project manager in Philadelphia, has been elected to a two-year term as president of that city's chapter of the Women's Transportation Seminar.

A. James "Jim" Clark

 

Abba G. Lichtenstein, 92, a noted bridge engineer who helped develop key national load-rating and inspection standards and techniques and who was an expert in repair of historic spans, died on March 13 in Washington, D.C., his family confirmed. He founded his own consulting firm and later joined structural engineer McMullan & Associates Inc., Reston, Va., as director of canals and bridges. His work, particularly in restoring the Roebling Aqueduct bridge in Pennsylvania, won numerous awards; his engineering alma mater, Ohio State University, named a chair in infrastructure in his honor.

He is a historic preservation specialist and was director of operations in Washington, D.C. will succeed him in that role. , 87, founder and former chairman and CEO of Clark Construction Group, died on March 20 in Easton, Md., of congestive heart failure, the Bethesda, Md., firm said. He joined George Hyman Construction in 1950 and was CEO by 1969. In 1977, Clark founded a nonunion unit, Omni Construction, and merged it with George Hyman to form Clark Construction Group. It had $4.26 billion in 2013 revenue and ranks 12th on ENR's list of the Top 400 Contractors.
