Anticipating steady growth in the construction sector, Hilti has announced several new products at World of Concrete, including updates to its popular TE 1000 breaker. The second-gen TE 1000 AVR breaker is able to deliver 19 ft-lb of impact energy, and utilizes Hilti's newly introduced Wave Chisel, known internally during development as the "vampire chisel."
Hilti's new breaker features a power-reduction switch which allows for more precise work. It features a detachable power cable for easier field replacement. The TE-SP Wave Chisel's unusual, wavy design reduces friction between the chisel body and the surrounding material, allowing for faster demolition. Since the wave pattern helps eject debris as it is formed, there is less overall dust created by the breaker. The chisel is compatable with Hilti's TE 805, TE 1000-AVR and TE 1500-AVR breakers.
With their own internal projections showing 7% to 8% of growth in the U.S. construction sector over 2015, Hilti is expanding its operations in the U.S. The company has recently hired over 100 new employees, bringing it's headcount in the U.S. to over 2,700. Hilti is also in the process of relocating their U.S. headquarters from Tulsa, Okla. to Dallas, Texas, where it is also planning to build a training and demonstration center.
