California Presidio Companies has selected Tricorp Hearn as the design-builder of the Grandview Hotel in St. Helena. The project entails designing and building a 57-room, 43,000-sq-ft luxury hotel, including a spa, a fitness center and a restaurant. The job also includes the demolishment of five existing on-site buildings as well as the preservation and updating of one building, Acacia House, which will house five suites and the lobby. HR Group is the architect-of- record, and the Gensler Interior Design Group will handle the interior finishes. Construction is expected to start during the third quarter of 2012. Maryland Lowe Enterprises Real Estate Services is planning to convert the Computer Building, a five-story office building at 11411 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton, to a 14-story residential high-rise. The project entails converting the brick facade to a composite panel, glass and masonry facade. The new building will contain up to 200 apartments and 60 on-site parking spaces. The project is being designed by Bonstra Haresign Architects. The project has been valued at between $25 million and $50 million. New York ReEnergy Holdings LLC is planning to convert the coal-burning Black River Generation powerplant, located in Fort Drum, to a biomass facility. Virginia 5/17 The Naval Facilities Engineering Command is seeking bidders to carry out the Navy Lodge expansion project at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek–Fort Story in Virginia Beach. The project entails building two two-story additions to the southeast and southwest "knuckles" of the existing Navy Lodge facility. At 30,700 sq ft in total, the two additions will contain two elevators, 17 two-bedroom family suites, nine one-bedroom suites and four standard one-bedroom units. Furthermore, the project includes the interior conversion of three existing guest rooms into a breakfast area. The project has been valued at between $10 million and $25 million. Alaska 5/24 The Ketchikan Public Utilities Co. is seeking bidders to construct the Whitman Lake Hydroelectric Facility. The project entails building a 4.6-MW hydropower generation station on the north shore of Herring Cove. The project includes building a powerhouse and a switchyard as well as installing and testing turbine generator equipment. A hatchery head tank also will be constructed. Furthermore, the project includes disconnecting the existing deepwater intake pipe from the existing steel-pipe connection at the dam and installing a new 36-in.-dia HDPE pipe, vacuum line and vacuum pump.
