HOLE

Joseph Hole
Career change helps engineer and his employer improve opportunities
33, Instrument and Controls Engineer
STV
Douglassville, Pa.

In 2011, after 10 successful years supporting the design and construction of powerplants, Hole decided to risk a major move by entering the petroleum pipeline industry. This career change paid off, not only for Hole, but for STV's energy services division, which has grown steadily over the last decade. Today, he is one of the company's most promising instrumentation and control engineers, taking the reins on large projects for clients like Sunoco, ExxonMobil Pipeline, Valero, and Colonial Pipeline. Hole's work has been critical to the expansion of one leading oil and gas company's ethane and ethylene pipeline system, a multibillion-dollar project that will increase volume by 100,000 barrels per day at the client's Texas chemical plant. It was the largest project the client has ever undertaken.STV turned to Hole for his ability to keep track of the many sites and modifications that the project requires. He also has served as a point person for bringing on board STV's new Denver office, which opened in February 2014 .

KENNEDY

Matt Kennedy
Biotech specialist known for novel approaches to problems
38, Associate/Process Specialist
CRB
Plymouth Meeting, Pa.

Early in his engineering career, Kennedy worked on design-build projects related to pharmaceutical water and clean utility systems, which led to a project engineering role on other similar contracts. Continuing to work on related project types eventually generated opportunities for him to work on several overseas projects. With this international experience, Kennedy was picked by his previous employer to start a Puerto Rico office, which grew to a staff of 30 in its first year. After returning stateside, Kennedy's interest in emerging technologies led him to focus on process engineering for biologics manufacturing facilities. The timing was fortunate: Kennedy was able to work with a team of top process specialists and world-renowned biotechnology thought leaders. That helped influence him to develop his own novel approaches to this industry's complex engineering problems. Kennedy belongs to the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering, and the Biotechnology Industry Organization Pennsylvania Chapter. He also has been published in Pharmaceutical Engineering magazine.
